Things here are still going well. I can't believe I've been here for a month! This week I got to work in a cresh in Eskom and still at the orphanage with Mpho! In Eskom, there were soo many children. They were all going crazy and wanting to play games the whole time! They figured out, however, that if they cry they can get attention. So the whole time we had many fake injuries and fake criers! They are soo sweet though. I just love every child I meet. In the orphanage, I held Mpho for probably 3 hours straight. I never get tired of it. He is just so incredibly happy and sweet. It's amazing to see him now and even think about the life he had before.
I was also able to rest and take a day to just process and relax. There was a lot I just wanted to think about. I made a journal about Ashton. In it, I recorded every memory I have of Ashton and everything I remember about her. As time goes on and I remember little things, I'll just keep recording them. I think it'll be so nice to look at years down the road.
I really feel like so much has changed in myself as a person. I'm realizing so much more about this world and what I want to do with my life. It seems like everything is changing back home too. I just can't believe so much has changed in a year. My life seems to have taken a complete turn around, but there's nothing to complain about. Just things to use and make positive.
I really want you help so many people. I've been thinking about what I want to do when I get back. I still want to major in teaching (I think), but I also want to maybe work in foster care or in orphanages. Maybe work overseas or in the U.S. wherever God places me!
I miss home and everybody so much, but I'm here for a purpose and I'm growing in incredible ways. God has taught me so much just in the first month. Mostly, I need to trust him and surrender everything to him. I'm really a changed person in just one month. Time seems to have flown by. I can't believe I'll be 20 next year. It seems like yesterday I was in high school. I'm excited to see what God has planned for my future.
I'm so excited that I have so much time left in Africa to do work. God is doing amazing things here. I'm able to meet some incredible people, but God is doing the most work in me!
